3 Favourite Fall Activities in Ontario

Updated: May 18

Who doesn't love a pumpkin spice latte? Visiting a pumpkin patch and cozy sweaters? Fall is my favourite season. I am a jeans and hoodie girl all the way and where I live, Fall is the best season for being outside, wearing boots, a sweater and having a coffee. That is my spirit animal. Because the weather is more likely to be agreeable...not too cold, not too hot. Fall is the perfect season to get outside and explore. So I wanted to share 3 of my favourite Fall activities in Ontario.

Hiking

Yes we hike every season. There is no designated hiking season. But here me out, Fall is the best. For all the same reasons I listed above...the weather is nice, even if it is a bit chilly when you are out hiking the cooler temp is welcomed! But hiking in the Fall is also the best for other reasons...the biggest being the scenery. The changing colours of the leaves; the crops in the fields, the fall flowers and plants...it is all Insta worthy, trust me! Hiking in the Fall also brings less crowds on the trails, while still being safe. Lastly, and I have no real proof but, in my opinion, Fall has the best wildlife to be seen on the trails.

We have shared some reels over on our Instagram page of our favourite trails in Huron County, I highly suggest you check them out! (@thedbadventures). Shameless plug: you should also check out our #g2gseries about our adventures section hiking the G2G Rail Trail from Goderich to Guelph.

Twin Pines Orchard

Apple picking and cider drinking are Fall activity staples add in a pumpkin and gourd patch and you are off to the races...or should I say Twin Pines Orchard. My family and I have been going to Twin Pines each Fall for a few years now and we love it. This is a smallish apple orchard in Thedford, Ontario.

You can pick your own apples, buy your pumpkins and gourds and take a hike on their trail while sipping your cider, or beer. It is a great afternoon for the whole family. Before you leave make sure you get your shopping in, as they have a super cute shop with trinkets, gifts, baked goods as well as cider, beer and wines.

Cheers! (Don't @ me hers is juice)

Snyders Family Farm

Snyders Farm in Bright, Ontario has a few themes.

  1. Fall Farm

  2. Fear Farm (Halloween)

  3. Christmas Farm (We have another post on Snyders Farm taking more about the Christmas Farm, here).

My favourite is the Fall Farm. I love the pumpkin patch, they have 1000's of pumpkins. The hay ride is a definite highlight and so fun for the whole family. If you go later in the Fall season (closer to Halloween) you can get a sneak peek at the Fear Farm on the hay ride, so you can decide if you want to go back in the dark...spooky! Really this farm is just a great day to be out with the whole family. They have animals to see; goats, pigs, sheep, ducks, etc., climbers and bikes for kids, hay bales to climb over and under and a genuinely difficult corn maze. We just love the innocent family fun that the Snyder Family Farm provides.

Of course there are a million different places you can visit in the Fall season, but these are 3 of my favourite Fall activities in Ontario. Like I said give me some jeans, a sweater and a coffee and I am there!
