G2G Series - Clyde Line to Button Line

Updated: Sep 5, 2021

First side road outside of Blyth, Ontario Clyde Line to Button Line

This section is beautiful and worth a visit if you are looking for a nice tree lined hike.

OVERALL CONDITION

It is slightly more rugged than normal for the GtoG. While it was noticeable it did not impact our hike, while pushing a stroller. It is mostly tree covered which was nice to help with shade and wind. However, because it is slightly marshy in this section the trees also held a few more bugs. We hiked this section in mid May, which I think was a great time. I wonder if the heat of August would bring out a few more bugs.

TRAFFIC

You can see the highway, on both sides, of the trail and there is some road noise. There are also some farms that back right up to this section.

Foot traffic was actually quite busy in this section on the day we hiked it. We made a comment that we saw more people on this section than we had the whole time from Goderich to Blyth.

PARKING

Parking is not ideal, but doable. it is a side road, and gravel as usual. The ditches are steep. So pulling over onto the shoulder was tricky. We also thought the road did not look well used, but this was incorrect. There was a surprising number of through traffic on the road. We were able to pull our CRV off the road by parking right next to the shoulder and the trail head. *do not block the trail entrance when parking.
