This section starts 2 side roads outside of Walton.
OVERALL CONDITION
Wildflowers and farmland...that is what you can expect on this section of the G2G. This section is semi maintained, meaning there were not any potholes or large puddles but the grass and brush on the sides of the trail are slightly long. Other than drawing a few extra mosquitos, it actually added to the aesthetic of the trail. *Always check your pets, kids and yourself for ticks after being out hiking.* From the road this section also looks very open to the elements, therefore we expected it to be very hot. Once we got on the trail it was more tree covered/ protected with corn fields than it seemed so it was quite comfortable. One of my favourite aspects of this section was all of the wildflowers. I am not a gardener so I am not sure if this is specail to this section or if the flowers would be anywhere this time of year. We did this section on the Saturday of the Civic Long Weekend.
TRAFFIC
We did not notice any vehicle traffic at all on this section. At this point on the trail you are out of town and almost out of Huron County. As stated above there were corn fields growing when we hiked, this will obviously change throughout the season. I also mentioned that we hiked this section on the Saturday of the long weekend. We saw a few more bikers than I expected being so far out of town, I think the long weekend played a part in this. We did have a biker ask us how far Blyth was, at this point on a bike I would give yourself, about an hour to get to Blyth.
PARKING
Once again there is roadside parking only. There are very few parking lots along the trail, unless you are in a town. We parked on McNabb Line and walked back towards Turnbull. We like doing this so we have the option to walk 2 sections if Audrey is up to it. The ditch is a little deep so be cautious. Also please do not block field entrances. We need to respect our farmers.
