Snyders Family Farm

Updated: Oct 22, 2022

Looking for a #FARMtastic family friendly outing for Fall? Check out Snyder's Family Farm.

Our family has visited this farm for the last couple of years and every year I swear they add a new experience. Seeing small, family run businesses grow and thrive, despite everything that the world and society throws at them...brings me joy, and hope for our future.

Logisitics

Snyder Family farm is located in Bright, Ontario on Blenheim Road. At the time of this writing tickets must be purchased in advance to attend. Check out their website for more information: https://snydersfamilyfarm.com/

Things to do

The farm has several themes to mention;

  1. Fall Farm Fun

  2. Fear Farm

  3. Christmas Tree Farm

Personally I have visited for Fall and Christmas. I am not brave enough for the Fear Farm...it is legit scary guys! My sister has done the haunted houses, and fear wagon ride at night and enjoys it. They do have a kid friendly version as well.

So I will speak to the Fall and Christmas times.

Fall: We enjoy the farm fun décor that is set up around the grounds...although it isn't really décor, it is kind of just life on a farm. The biggest hit is always the animals. They have chickens, pigs, goats, sheep and Alpacas. If you are lucky the goats will be climbing and playing on their giant jungle gym! The kids also enjoy the haybale castle and tunnels. After we visit the animals we head into the Candy Barn for a treat (coffee/ beer for mom & dad; treats for the little ones). Then wonder aimlessly around the corn maze; word of advice a toddler has no sense of direction but they love taking the lead! On the way out of the Farm we like to hit up the wagon ride. This is a legit wagon pulled by a tractor through their grounds. You see the pumpkin patch and Christmas Tree fields. It is fall fun to a science.

Here we go! Will we make it out of the Corn Maze?

Christmas: to be honest a lot of the visit is the same at Christmas as in the Fall. However, this time there is snow and some of the decorations have changed. You can also visit with Santa, usually in the Candy Barn. You can also take a sleigh ride through the Christmas Trees and cut your own tree. Merry Christmas!

Some of the other attractions are:

  1. Beer Tent. You can drink alcohol throughout most of the grounds but there is a designated tent as well. This is a very family friendly location so kids are also welcomed in all areas. *This is a highlight for mom & dad.

  2. Bouncy Area. There are 2 trampoline bouncy areas that are a big hit with the kids and kids at heart.

  3. Play equipment. There are 2 playground areas. One for young kids and one for the older ones. *New for the 2022 season is a huge wooden multilevel play area for the kids. I posted a picture below for scale. The kids loved this thing!

  4. Shows. There is a playhouse set up where fun farm characters may appear and shows will run, with singing and dancing.

5. Bikes. There are 3 wheeled bikes you can take around a track. It is silly, so of course it is super fun! Small kids can even ride on the back with a parent.

6. Pumpking Picking and Christmas Tree Cutting.

7. Baked Goods. They have an excellent bakery on the farm. We never leave without some cinnamon buns 🤤

8. Store. They also have a store where you can shop for home goods. It is always decorated to the nines for the season.

9. Campfires. You can rent a firepit for you and your family/friends where you can roast homemade marshmallows and sing songs around the fire.

The Area

Hopefully you will make a stop to the Snyder Farm. But even if that is not your cup of tea you should take a drive in that direction. This region of Ontario is just beautiful. The rolling hills, old, rustic homes neighbouring with new modern homes is enough to put a For Sale sign on my front yard. You will see working farms, random rivers, rolling hills, and wonderful little bridges to drive across. It is worth the trip.

Visiting the Farm is most fun when done with kids. However, I think adults can enjoy it on their own as well. I hope this will be a family tradition for years to come.
